Kyoto in 2 days: Higashiyama, Fushimi Inari or Arashiyama
Two days in Kyoto work best when nearby places share the same day. Walk through eastern Kyoto first, then give either Fushimi Inari or Arashiyama room in the schedule instead of treating every famous sight as a compulsory stop.

Day 1 · Higashiyama and the river
Use the Kiyomizu-dera area, the lanes of Higashiyama and the public streets around Gion as one walking day. Choose one temple interior and leave time for the Kamo River. Slopes and stone paving make comfortable shoes useful; check individual temple hours before setting the order.
Day 2 · Choose east or west
Fushimi Inari is a good focus if you want shrine grounds and torii-lined walking paths. Arashiyama is a separate choice for the western side of Kyoto. Combining both is possible, but uses more of the day in transit. Pick one main area and add a nearby stop only if time remains.
Getting around without overplanning
Map the actual entrances, not only attraction names. Rail plus walking can simplify some routes; buses are useful when the destination is less convenient by train. Leave luggage at your accommodation when possible. Keep one indoor alternative for rain and do not reserve consecutive activities on opposite sides of the city.
Gion and Higashiyama are living neighbourhoods. Use public routes, obey private-road and photography signs, and never block or follow people for photographs. Eat where the shop permits and keep passages clear. A quiet side street is somebody’s home, not an invitation to enter.
